Raspberries

A typical raspberry is sweet, slightly tangy and it will almost melt in your mouth due to its delicate nature. This fruit contains high levels of vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to the body.  Raspberries are packed with potassium, calcium and lutein.
Known to have antioxidants to slow cancer growth. A great fruit to eat to alleviate inflammatory conditions for people that suffer from arthritis and gout.  For those looking for a great source of fiber, raspberry would be one of the best choices.

GATEWAY         ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture Vs Massage

As a licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist, I am often asked which therapy is more effective in helping people feel better and manage pain. It is a tough question, as acupuncture and massage both have amazing health benefits, yet feel completely different when receiving them. Like a toolbox, you need to know when to use the right tool for the right job. There are definitely certain times when I feel that one modality works better than the other, but when used in combination, I feel the treatments are most effective for my clients!

In Oriental medicine terms, the balancing of one's "Chi" or energy is paramount to staying healthy. The terms, Yin and Yang can be used to describe the contrast between massage and acupuncture. For instance, a massage nourishes the Chi by the constant touch of a human and represents the Yin. In contrast, acupuncture is a quick and precise touch from a needle representing the Yang. Neither is better or worse, just another half of the whole and used together to balance one's Chi.

I encourage my patients to receive both treatments during each session to maximize the therapeutic effects of massage and acupuncture. I start each session with a light massage and gradually increase the pressure. After the massage, I target the injured area with the acupuncture, to pin point the injury and alleviate the pain.

A relaxing full body massage nourishes and soothes the soul while a deep tissue massage is best for increasing blood flow, reducing tight muscular aches and pains due to the daily stresses of work or body pains from excessive exercise.

For stubborn injuries that take longer to heal, acupuncture goes to the root of the problem, helping to reduce inflammation. Patients who have acute pain are often too sensitive for massage and acupuncture would be a better choice of treatment. Acupuncture helps to release various chemicals from the brain to assist with pain management.

Most people are unwilling to try acupuncture and prefer massage because they think that acupuncture is going to hurt. However, the truth is that a deep tissue massage is likely more painful than an acupuncture treatment. The needles I use are as thin as a strand of hair and there is little to no pain during the treatment. The end goal however is the same - to help the individual with pain and suffering. Whether you just want massage or prefer acupuncture, I can help you. But if you ask for my advice, I would almost always combine the two treatments to maximize the healing benefits!

As a heath practitioner, I provide holistic health treatments to those who are seeking a natural alternative for the effective treatment of their conditions. Whether its acupuncture, massage, herbal medicine, diet, breathing techniques, meditation or healing mandalas, there are many ways to feel better naturally and reduce pain and the stress of everyday life!

ALLERGY SEASON IS STILL HERE

Each year I am amazed to see more and more people affected by seasonal allergies.  Almost 35 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies due to pollen released into the air.  But spending time in the garden, taking a walk or just enjoying the outdoors does not have to be torture.  Lucky for you, acupuncture and massage are effective therapies that can alleviate many of the irritating symptoms of seasonal allergies such as sneezing, runny nose, watery and itchy red eyes, scratchy throat and even sinus headaches.
It is not uncommon for my patients to feel better almost immediately, either from the initial facial massage or from the precise acupuncture placement.  After the treatment they can breath better and feel less discomfort from those irritating symptoms. Furthermore, unlike over-the-counter medications, there are no side effects.
Acupuncture works by tapping into your own body’s pharmacy to balance and regulate the flow of chemicals to keep you at your best.  There is strong evidence that acupuncture stimulates the immune system when an allergy attack is triggered by pollen or other allergens.
The benefits of acupuncture for seasonal allergies were also recommended in a recent CNN article.  Patients treated with acupuncture felt better further evidencing the effectiveness of the treatment for allergies as a safe alternative to medication such as antihistamines.     http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/19/health/acpuncture-allergies/

As an acupuncturist, I provide holistic health treatments to those who want and are seeking a natural alternative for the effective treatment of their conditions. There are many things in addition to my combined acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine that one can do to reclaim their enjoyment of being outside during the springtime.
I give these treatments in the privacy of your own home and during a convenient time that fits into your busy schedule.  There are many more things you can do to stay healthy and please do not forget to get plenty of exercise and just enough sunshine this spring!  It is so important to feed your body with nutritious meals and keep that chi moving.  Please feel free to contact me to discuss your individual case to get you on the right track to a happy and healthy year.
